Bhedas are described as a fundamental postures or gestures which are used by dancers to emote their feelings to the audience. Shira bheda, Greeba bheda and Drishti bheda are the main bhedas used in odissi dance.
The term “Bheda” is derived from Sanskrit, meaning “difference” or “distinction”.
In odissi we have the following :
Pada Bheda – Various ways in which the feet are used in dance .
Dristi Bheda – Various ways in which the eyes are used in dance .
Griba Bheda – Various ways in which the neck are used in dance .
