Shira bheda – Classification of Head Movement in Odissi dance
There are 9 types of Shirabheda in Odissi dance
- Sama– Keep your head straight and look straight
- Udvahitta- Head in upward position (Look Up)
- Adomukha– Head in downward position (Look Down)
- Alolitha– Move your head in circular motion (rotate from left to right or right to left)
- Drutha– Move your head from side to side (say‘NO’)
- Kampita– Move your head up and down (Say ‘YES’)
- Paravritta– Look to one side
- Ukshiptta– Tilt your head to one side and eyes looking other side top corner
- Parivahitta– Move your in circular motion depicting ‘infinity’
